The largest event of the year for the adventure tourism industry took place, this time, in Hokkaido, Japan on September 11 to 14, 2023.

Hokkaido, Japan, October 3, 2023: Learning about the latest developments in the adventure tourism industry alongside providers from around the world, General Manager, Josian Yaksic and Commercial Manager, Juan López participated in the Adventure Travel World Summit in Hokkaido, Japan. The event took place from September 11 to 14, 2023.

The Adventure Travel World Summit is considered the most important event of the year for professionals in this sector of tourism. Around 800 attendees gathered at this event, including tour operators, representatives from different destinations, travel adventure writers, and opinion leaders from around the world. Its purpose is to explore travel trends, celebrate significant achievements, and establish new connections.

Among the highlights of the summit were presentations by different speakers who shared their innovative ideas, expert panels open to the discussion of various topics, meeting spaces for buyers and suppliers, the opportunity to participate in an “Adventure Day” to discover the offerings of the region, and a MediaConnect session providing the opportunity to present stories to international writers and editors.

“Participating in the Adventure Travel World Summit is a great opportunity for Las Torres Patagonia. Chile has stood out as a major provider of adventure tourism internationally, and there is always room to continue learning from what is being done in other countries,” said Josian Yaksic. He added, “This event also allowed us to share the significant actions we are promoting in Torres del Paine and how sustainability and trekking come together in a cutting-edge tourism offering.”

“After the pandemic, the market has evolved and encountered different challenges. Now, with the possibility of working remotely, travelers have a new range of possibilities to adapt their lives to travel,” commented Juan López, the commercial manager, adding that they are “very excited to learn how other countries have taken advantage of this new style of travel.”

One of the prominent speakers at this summit was the British essayist and novelist, Pico Ayer, who was responsible for closing the forum and sharing his experience in travel narratives for adventure tourism.
